I can easily see a remake of the Swiss Family as it has a pretty good story and premise that could be updated to today or done as a period film.
The thought of Jungle Cruise as a movie makes me kind of uneasy. For the life of me I can't think of a premise that would make the story compelling (I love the ride btw). I am afraid that they will take the easy way out and create a new action character (i.e. Sparrow) and force it into the plot line of the ride, so to speak.
Dont get me wrong, Sparrow and the Pirates movies are wonderful but thier success was based on an extension of the story. I just dont see that flexibility in the Jungle Cruise.

Absolutely. The Jungle Cruise is really too straightforward. Perhaps its the tale of those last ones who end up the pole running from the rhino? Who knows, but I'm not sure if even that would be too swell a flick. I think that Pirates was such an awesome movie because all the plots were so loose and there was always so much going on, you may as well make up a few trademark characters. After that you just in essence beef up the ride. |

The Jungle Cruise was inspired by this old Bogart film. |
I can hear some movie execs thinking:
"What a great property. Let's remake it. But update it so it will be relevant and resonate with the younger market segments. Maybe do product promotional deal with Taco Bell or maybe get someone like Kayne to do a music video, so that it will draw those cash flush younger kids in. We can make a killing on the licensing. Is Paul Walker available? Is he still hot? And by the way, We will change the name of the move to The Jungle Cruise"
Post inspired partially by all the movie reviews of "The Omen" remake and my own work experiences.

yeah it really is pointless since the African Queen was what Walt and imagineers based the Jungle Cruise off of. Although, that did not stop them with Pirates since Pirates of the Caribbean was based off of ideas old Pirate Swashbuckeling movies from the past.
We can only hope it does not become a reality. |

| maybe it will be a comedy.. based heavily off of the ride.. only with people actually getting hurt.. and the climax is the hippos attacking the boat. both underwater and from the trees... |
